Description

The Historic Preservation Commission is primarily responsible for issuing certificates of appropriateness. Certificates are required for work being conducted on the exterior of homes in historic districts. The certificate is required to assure any alterations to these structures maintain the historic character of the buildings. Seven (7) people serve on the Historic Preservation Commission. Members of the Commission are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. They serve three (3) year terms that expire on a staggered basis.
